18 Things To Try In Walt Disney World Resort Whether You're A Thrill Seeker, Foodie Or Anything In Between

Aug 13, 2023

Because there's a thrill for everyone at Walt Disney World Resort!

BuzzFeed Staff

Or maybe you're all of the above!

Editor's Note: BuzzFeed was provided this trip free of charge; however, we were under no obligation to give a positive review.

TRON Lightcycle / Run takes you on a race across the Grid through a dark, digitized realm with bursts of the "real world". Based on the Disney sci-fi film TRON: Legacy, you speed across a world filled with neons and lasers. It's fast, exhilarating, and vibrant all at the same time. It just opened this April so... ready, set, launch!

Tip: Download the Disney PhotoPass to capture your ride through the Grid. Trust me, you'll feel (and look) like you're in the movie TRON!

Experience the new Toy Story inspired restaurant where you’ll see the world through the eyes of Andy's toys— complete with oversized decor that will make you feel teeny tiny! From the brisket, to the mac 'n' cheese, to the lemon and blueberry cheesecake, the food is all delicious. There's also some really fun interactive moments with cast members that *really* makes you feel like a toy.

Tip: Try the Strawberry Lemonade or Molly's Frozen Ice Tea to really get into the Western spirit. For the adults, try the Snake Eye Margarita which is fresh, clean, and has the perfect amount of spice.

Every Disney story ends with a "Happily Ever After" so it's only fitting to end your day at Magic Kingdom with a spectacular firework show! These fireworks are truly SO magical— capturing the heart of classic Disney stories and your favourite Disney characters. This show is a must see, no matter how old you are.

Tip: Keep your eye out for a special little green fairy who makes a real life appearance during the show. Don't blink or you might miss her!

Calling all Jedis, the rebellion needs you! Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is an incredible ride that truly transports you to a different galaxy. The attention to detail from cast members, visual and ambience really makes it feel like you're in the universe from the second you step into Galaxy's Edge.

Tip: Fuel up with blue milk or green milk from Milk Stand. They're both really unique drinks that don't taste like milk at all! They're kind of fruity, creamy, nutty, and refreshing all at the same time.

EPCOT is the ULTIMATE destination for every food lover— the dining possibilities are endless. One of my faves is Chefs de France, where you'll feel like you've been transported to a cute little cafe in Paris. There's even a mini Eiffel Tower in the distance! Try the escargots or baked goat cheese salad. Bon appétit!

Tip: Time your dinner to end just around 9:00pm. That way you can finish up your meal at Chefs De France just before Harmonious at EPCOT begins. A French meal followed by a spectacular firework show... sign me up!

Step into the stunning world of Pandora, transform into an Avatar, and climb atop a winged banshee for a 3D flight over Pandora. This ride is unlike anything I've ever experienced. From the minute you walk into the Valley of Mo'ara you are transported to Pandora to get up close and personal with accurately-sized Na'vi hunters at the lab. The floating mountain set alone warrants a visit to Pandora.

Tip: Visit Pandora at night. Yes, it's amazing during the day but it's truly breathtaking at night when everything is lit up with bioluminescence decor.

Now this is my kind of thrill! There's nothing quite like a Disney famous DOLE Whip® to indulge your sweet tooth while exploring Disney World... especially with a splash of rum (if you're an adult)! The DOLE Whip® Pineapple Float was one of my favourite (and most beautiful) things I tried at Disney World.

Tip: If you're looking for something with a little chocolate included, try a frozen banana dipped in chocolate and covered in peanuts available at the ice cream carts all around Animal Kingdom.

Take off on an intergalactic chase and into the world of Guardians of the Galaxy. This ride is not for faint of heart... it's the first ever reverse-launch on a Disney coaster. Buckle up and enjoy the ride. I certainly did!

Tip: If you're not too busy screaming your head off, take a listen at what song is playing. There's a special soundtrack that changes, so you get a different song every time you ride! Let us know which song you got in the comments below.

If meeting the Disney gang is on your checklist, book a character brunch— it's fun for the whole family! You'll get to meet Minnie, Mickey, Goofy, and Pluto (just to name a few) while enjoying a breakfast buffet. The characters stop at each table so you'll get a photo or autograph with each of them. It's a good way to avoid line-ups for pics!

Tip: There's a monorail stop conveniently located right in the lobby of Disney's Contemporary Resort. After breakfast, hop on the monorail and straight into Magic Kingdom Park. By doing security at the hotel you can skip the park entrance line-ups and have more time at the park!

There are so many delicious and fast food options at the EPCOT Outdoor Kitchens. Almost every country pavilion has an Outdoor Kitchen featuring cuisine from that country. Eat (or drink!) your way around the world. The German Pavilion has a yummy grapefruit beer and the Japanese Pavilion has frushi (fruit sushi).

Tip: Use your Disney World Go App to order food ahead of time and skip the lines! It's a win/win. More time to try other foods and explore EPCOT.

Beautiful gardens full of fresh flowers, flavours from around the world, and lively entertainment? Sign me up! Every spring, EPCOT's garden blooms with incredible flowers and greenery shaped as beloved Disney characters.

Tip: As the parents embark on a worldwide culinary adventure, get the kids to take part in Kidcot Fun Stops where the collect activity cards at each country throughout the World Showcase.

There's a couple reasons why the infamous Hollywood Tower Hotel seems a little haunted. Maybe it's because the dusty lobby is eerily frozen time? Maybe it's the hotel staff who are a little... off? Or maybe its the continuous blood-curdling screams heard from the tower? It's not for the faint of heart, so ride at your own discretion.

Tip: Take the Hollywood Tower Hotel plunge at night. It's extra spooky in the dark and the neon lights add a whole other dimension. If you time your ride perfectly, you'll make it out just in time for Fantasmic!

Whatever age you are, there's something magical about a spectacular firework show at Disney. Fanstasmic! is a larger-than-life show show that features stunning pyro effects, thrilling stunts, and (most importantly) appearances from beloved Disney characters. Personally, I couldn't stop smiling for the entire show.

Tip: Pick up snacks on Sunset Boulevard on your way into Fanastmic! Try the infamous Churro or Carrot Cake Whoopie Pie.

This isn't your sit back and relax on the choo-choo train type of ride... this is a full fledge swaying family coaster ride! Race through the diamond mine from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in a creaky cart.

Tip: Purchase Genie+ to use Lightning Lane for this ride. That way you can plan your day ahead of time and avoid longer wait times.

As a Canadian I HAD to check out the food at the Canadian Pavilion in EPCOT, and Le Cellier Steakhouse did not disappoint. There's steak (of course!), maple butter, poutine complete with squeaky curds, PEI Mussels, and Canadian cheddar soup... just to name a few things.

Pro tip: Explore the Canadian Pavilion on your way to Le Cellier Steakhouse. It's full of plaid Disney souvenirs, maple leafs, and even has Canadian beer!

Add an extra dash of pixie dust to your day and catch a ride on a gondola with the Disney Skyliner. Its an attraction in itself and a thrill for the whole family. Plus it's stroller friendly and you get some awesome views of the entire Disney World Resort.

Tip: Use the Disney Skyliner to get from Disney's Hollywood Studios to EPCOT and vice versa. It's the perfect way to get from one park to the other and maximize your time at both parks if you have a Park Pass.

Vanilla ice cream dipped in premium chocolate shaped as Mickey Mouse ears, what could be better (or cuter)? Not much!

Tip: If ice cream dipped in chocolate isn't your thing, try the Mickey's Premium Ice-Cream Sandwich. It has cookies-and-cream ice cream sandwiched between two soft chocolate cookies!

I had no idea that Disney World Resorts had not only one, but two water parks! With the waterslides, raft rides, and even a lazy river, there's a lot of fun to be had at the beach!

Tip: Try the Sand Pail Ice Dream Sundae which features soft-serve ice cream, sprinkles, rainbow cake, hot fudge, caramel sauce, whipped cream all served in (you guessed it!) a sand pail bucket.
