The device is promising “industry’s highest power density” at 83W per pound

American critical power specialist Acumentrics has launched a UPS system that manages to squeeze 1000W of power into a half-rack enclosure.

The device comes equipped with hot-swappable Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries and is designed to co-exist with portable server and telecommunications equipment from the likes of KLAS, PacStar, Mercury, HPE, and Dell – and anything else that requires 20VDC to 30VDC power.

It is also compatible with a variety of small form factor transit cases.

Acumentrics specializes in providing “data center quality power” for operations in the field. It builds ruggedized equipment for first responders, the US military forces – including Army, Navy and Air Force – and defense contractors like Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, and Lockheed Martin.

Its latest product is a 1000W UPS system built to minimize SWaP-C, an acronym beloved by the defense industry that stands for Size, Weight, Power and Cost of a device, system, or program.

The unit measures just 1.75" by 9.4" by 14", and weighs 12 lbs.

“We’ve reduced the size and weight of this portable UPS, while providing the rugged power and runtime necessary to deploy fully operational electronic systems in austere environments,” said Steve Corbesero, SVP of Sales and Marketing at Acumentrics.

The unit automatically adjusts for domestic and international input power and meets several military standards, including MIL-STD 810G for withstanding environmental extremes, shock, and vibration, and MIL-STD 461F for low electromagnetic interference.
